This week, our Large Coating Plant for the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) embarked on its journey from our facilities in Germany to its new home at the ESO observatory in the Atacama Desert, Chile.
This state-of-the-art coater has been fully custom-engineered to meet the demanding requirements for coating uniformity on a monolithic 4.5-meter diameter mirror – a critical component for one of the world’s most ambitious astronomical projects. This achievement is the result of true collaboration and innovation. Teamwork made the dream work!
